The Brazilian Supreme Court has told the social media platform X, which is owned by Elon Musk, that it must show documents about its new legal representative in Brazil. The court gave X five days to provide this information.

On Friday, lawyers for X said they had chosen Rachel de Oliveira Conceicao to be their legal representative in Brazil. This was important because it was one of the things the court wanted for X to keep working in the country.

Judge Alexandre de Moraes from the Supreme Court said that X must provide records and papers to show that Rachel de Oliveira Conceicao is officially their legal representative in Brazil.

Back in late August, the Supreme Court ordered internet and mobile companies to block X in Brazil. This ban happened just hours after the court’s decision because X did not follow its orders, including naming a legal representative.

Brazilian law says that foreign companies, like X, need to have a legal representative to operate in the country.

This person takes care of the company's legal matters in Brazil. Having a legal representative is very important for any foreign business that wants to work in Brazil.

Before this problem, X had a legal representative in Brazil until mid-August. But then, the company decided to close its offices there and let go of its workers. This decision came after a long disagreement between Elon Musk and Judge Moraes. They argued over X's failure to act against hate speech on its platform. Musk called the court’s actions censorship.

The trouble started when the court ordered X to do more to stop hate speech and misinformation on its site. When X didn’t follow these requests, the court had to take strong actions.

Because of this, many people in Brazil couldn’t use X anymore. This situation raised questions about free speech and what role social media platforms have in controlling content.

The Supreme Court’s decision to ask for documents from X is very important. It shows that the court is serious about making sure foreign companies follow the law in Brazil.

As time runs out, everyone is watching X closely. The company needs to act fast to provide the documents the court wants. If they don’t, they could face more problems with their operations in Brazil.

This situation shows the challenges that international companies face when working in other countries. Each country has its own laws that businesses must follow. For X, this is a key moment. The company must fix this issue to keep serving its users in Brazil.

As the deadline gets closer, we will see how X responds. The result of this case could change how foreign companies work in Brazil.
