The cost of the 12th parliamentary election of Bangladesh has increased to about 2,300 crores. The cost per parliamentary seat is more than 7 crore taka. Most of this huge budget will be spent on law enforcement according to the Election Commission (EC).
Election Commission Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that the allocation of around 1500 crore taka was proposed for election management and law and order sector. Later, the demand for allocation may increase to around Tk 2300 crore.
He also said that there will be three thousand magistrates in this election. Apart from this, the cost has increased due to the increase in the number of law enforcement personnel and the deployment time.
According to the demand received from the law and order forces, the potential expenditure is about 1225 crore 62 lakh taka and the potential expenditure in the election management sector is 1 thousand 50 crore 60 lakh taka. The cost per seat is more than 7 crore taka.
EC officials said that the demand for additional expenditure has been sent to the Finance Ministry. They have already started allotment.

The total number of voters in the twelfth election is 11 crore 96 lakh 89 thousand 289 people. The number of polling stations is more than 42 thousand. There are more than 2 lakh 61 thousand polling booths in the election field.
