The statement also said that an additional day would be added to the truce for every 10 hostages made available for release. While the statement did not explicitly mention the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, it is understood to be an integral part of the deal.

The Government of Israel said together with the Israeli army and the security services, will continue the fight to ensure the safe return of all the hostages, eliminate Hamas completely, and guarantee that there will be no new threats to the State of Israel originating from Gaza.

The Israeli government has given its approval to a temporary truce in Gaza, facilitated by Qatar, following Prime Minister Netanyahu's statement that the agreement does not imply an end to the ongoing conflict.

Hamas, the Palestinian group, confirmed through a statement on Telegram that a temporary ceasefire was agreed upon by both sides and would remain in effect for a duration of four days. The terms of this ceasefire include the following provisions:

1. Israel will cease all military actions in every part of the Gaza Strip, including the movement of military vehicles.
2. Gaza will be granted access to hundreds of humanitarian aid trucks containing essential supplies such as medical and fuel resources.
3. The operation of drones in southern Gaza will be suspended for the duration of the four-day period, whereas in the North, they will only be ceased for six hours per day, between 10am to 4pm local time.
4. Throughout the ceasefire, Israel has pledged not to launch attacks or make any arrests within any area of the Gaza Strip.
5. The freedom of movement along Salah al-Deen Street will be guaranteed during this truce period.

In the meantime, a United Nations agency reported that nearly 1.7 million individuals have been displaced in Gaza since October 7. Furthermore, an analysis of radar satellite data revealed that approximately 50% of buildings in northern Gaza and Gaza governorates have suffered damage.
