Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, resigned on Wednesday. This big change happened just as Russian missiles hit the city of Lviv, killing seven people, including a child. These attacks are part of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Kuleba has been a very important person in Ukraine’s government. He worked closely with other countries to get support for Ukraine.
His decision to leave his job comes as President Volodymyr Zelensky prepares to make big changes in the government. This also happens right before President Zelensky is expected to visit the United States.
Ukraine’s parliament will soon decide if they accept Kuleba’s resignation. The Speaker of Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, shared this news on Telegram, a popular messaging app.
Davyd Arakhamia, the leader of the majority in parliament, had already said that many changes were coming to the government. He mentioned that more than half of the ministers in the Cabinet would be replaced soon.
One of the ministers who already resigned is Oleksandr Kamyshin. He was in charge of making weapons for Ukraine. This is a very important job, especially with the ongoing war.
He might take on a new defense job soon. Other ministers who left their jobs include the ministers of justice, environment, and reintegration.

Lviv’s mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, confirmed that seven people were killed in the attacks. Among those who died was a 14-year-old girl. At least 25 people were hurt, including a 15-month-old baby who got moderate injuries. The attacks also damaged several important old buildings in the city, some of which are located in a UNESCO-protected area.
Just one day before the attacks in Lviv, Russia also struck a military school in central Ukraine. This attack killed 53 people and hurt more than 270 others. It was one of the deadliest attacks since the war started in February 2022. The attack also damaged homes, schools, and medical centers in the area.
In another part of Ukraine, the city of Kryvyi Rih, Russian missiles hit a hotel, injuring five people.
This attack happened just over a week after a large missile and drone attack targeted energy systems all over the country. During that attack, two people were killed in a strike on a different hotel in Kryvyi Rih.
On Tuesday night, President Zelensky spoke to the people of Ukraine. He said that the upcoming fall season is very important for the country. He wants the government to be ready to make big progress. Zelensky also mentioned that some parts of the government will need to get stronger, especially in dealing with other countries and handling things inside Ukraine.
President Zelensky is asking for more help from other countries to get air defense systems. He says that anyone who helps Ukraine protect itself is a true hero.
Zelensky also wants to make sure that Ukraine can fight back against these attacks to keep its people safe. He believes that the only way to stop Russia’s attacks is by getting more support from other countries. This support is critical for Ukraine to protect its cities and its people from the ongoing terror.
