Unofficially Bangladesh Awami League Won 4th Term National Parliament of Bangladesh

Awami League is on the way to form the government for the fourth consecutive term. Bangladesh Awami League won 224 parliamentary seats. National Party 11, Independent candidates won 62 parliamentary seats and others candidates won 1 seat among 298 parliamentary seats in unofficial results.

The total number of parliamentary seat is 300.

If Awami League officially elected this election, they will form the government for the fourth consecutive time after 75 years and the fifth time in total.

Awami League president and Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina will take over as the prime minister for the fifth term.

Polling for the 12th parliamentary election of Bangladesh has ended. Voting collection started at 8 am (January 7) and ended at 4 pm of today. After the scheduled interval the counting started.

1 thousand 970 candidates are struggled in 299 parliamentary seats. Out of 44 political parties registered in EC, 1 thousand 534 candidates contested for 28 political parties in this election. There were 436 people in the voting field as independent candidates.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that the election was much better than expected.

CEC said, we are not saying satisfied or not satisfied. We are satisfied that there was no violence. By the grace of Allah no one died. And the violence of the fight was not much. That is a good news.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was unofficially elected to the Gopalganj-3 (Tungipara-Kotalipara) constituency in the 12th parliamentary election. Total center of this constituency is 108.

Sheikh Hasina was elected by getting 2 lakh 49 thousand 962 votes. His closest rival, Sheikh Abul Kalam got 460 votes in the mango symbol. Another candidate, Mahabur Molya of Zaker Party got 425 votes in Golap Full Marka.

Ferdous Ahmed has contested by participating in the election for the first time. He has won the Dhaka-10 seat with the boat symbol.

Sheikh Hasina has instructed not to hold any kind of victory procession after the announcement of the results. At the same time, the Awami League president has given organizational instructions not to engage in violence or self-conflict with other candidates and their workers-supporters.

Former member of the US Congress, Jim Bates, said that the elections in Bangladesh were peaceful, free and fair. Jim also said that he saw enthusiasm among the voters by observing the election.

Observers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have also expressed their satisfaction after observing the election.
